January 22 update:
3D artist and industrial designer Marcus Kane aka Hyperware has produced professional renders of the leaked prototype showing more detail.
Original article from January 19, 2023:
A 3D model of the alleged Meta Quest 3 prototype shows the possible design of the VR headset.
Later this year, the successor to Meta Quest 2 will be released. This has been confirmed by Meta. Last fall, knowledgeable hardware analyst Brad Lynch released blueprints for a prototype VR headset, allegedly showing the design of Meta Quest 3.
The Youtuber leaked drawings of Meta Quest Pro a few months earlier, which later turned out to be accurate. Chances are there is something leaking. Still, Lynch points out that small details could still change.

Leaked Stinson prototype as a 3D model
3D artist Alvin Suen created a 3D model based on CAD plans of the alleged Quest 3 prototype. If you’re reading this article on a smartphone, you can view 3D rendering from all sides by touching it.
With the Sketchfab app, it is also possible to see the helmet in your physical environment via augmented reality. Meta Quest 2 also lets you view the VR headset in VR in the Meta Quest browser or with the Figmin XR app.
What immediately jumps out at you are the three elongate protrusions on the front of the VR headset. According to the plans, there are a pair of black and white and RBG cameras (left and right, respectively) as well as a depth sensor (center). These allow for spatial tracking, color passing, and better hand tracking. The elaborate sensor architecture suggests that Meta’s hardware is focused on mixed reality.

Also quite noticeable is the thinner case profile compared to Meta Quest 2 (test). Chances are Meta will use pancake lenses like they did with Meta Quest Pro (review), allowing for a slimmer form factor.

White Touch Pro controllers look good
Suen added Meta’s new Touch Pro controllers to the 3D model of the headset, but in white to match the Meta Quest 3. The new VR controllers are included with Meta Quest Pro, but are also compatible with Meta Quest 2 and have been available at purchase separately since December. Touch Pro controllers follow themselves and therefore do not need the annoying tracking rings usual touch controllers.
Meta Quest 3 is extremely unlikely to ship with Touch Pro controllers, given the hefty price tag of $300. Meta Quest 3 is supposed to cost between $300 and $500, according to Mark Zuckerberg. However, they would go well with the new VR headset in white, as shown in the 3D model. We assume that they will also be compatible with Meta Quest 3.
